HK is not terrorist target: HK Police

Hong Kong's Police Commissioner Stephen Lo said here Saturday that there has been no intelligence suggesting Hong Kong being a target of terrorist attack. The local authorities carried out daily risk assessments and were in close contact with anti-terror authorities in other countries, Lo said. The security situation in Hong Kong remained unchanged so far, the police chief said. According to him, the local police has carried out a plan to strengthen the control of private firearms since last year. Those who newly acquired licenses to own guns were required to submit their firearms to the police in order to obtain ballistic data. The police recently came in contact with those who previously acquired gun licenses to seek their views, and their opinion the police will decide whether to ask them to provide their firearms for related testing, he added.
