Mainland stock markets plunge more than 5 percent

Chinese mainland stock markets plummeted again on Monday as A shares still failed to recover from last week's plunge. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 5.33 percent to 3,016.70 points on Monday, while the Shenzhen Component Index slumped 6.21 percent to 10,212.46 points. More than 1,200 stocks traded on the Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses nosedived by the 10 percent daily limit on Monday, with only 94 stocks gaining.
