Kenya Police on Friday arrested four terror suspects and intercepted a suspicious vehicle at Nakumatt City Mall in the Coastal City of Mombasa.
The Four were arrested at gunpoint by a team of detectives trailing them for almost a week.
Mombasa County Police boss Robert Kitur said the details of the vehicle, were circulated among security agencies after security agencies.
"We have seized their mobile phones to assist detectives to establish their mission in the country. We are investigating their motive if indeed they were planning terrorist attack in City." said Kitur.
The four who include two men of Arab and Two Kenyans were handed over to team of anti terrorism police officers for further questioning.
He said the four were surveying key installations including Malls and supermarkets within Nyali.
Police suspects the Two Arab could be part of terror gang plotting attacks the Coastal City during the Easter Holiday.
Mombasa County Commissioner Nelson Marwa on Friday said the special unit has been setup to ensure security during and after the Easter holiday celebrations.
"Security patrols have been be stepped up in Mombasa during the holiday. We ensure that security is not be compromised in key areas including the Moi International Airport, Likoni Ferry channel, hotels, churches, malls, beaches and other major facilities in the coastal City," said Marwa
Marwa said a joint team of officers drawn from, the General Service Unit, the National Police Service, the National Intelligence Service, and the Kenya wildlife Service will conduct operations.
